Abdominoplasty

Abdominoplasty, or “tummy tuck”, is a cosmetic surgery procedure used to make the abdomen more firm. This type of surgery is usually sought by patients with loose tissues after pregnancy or individuals with sagging after major weight loss.

Abdominoplasty is done under general anaesthesia. The skin below the belly button is removed. The skin over the belly button is pulled down like the “drop-curtain”. You will have a long curved horizontal scar, which can usually be hidden inside your underwear. Your belly button is repositioned to fit the new shape with an incision made in the dropped skin.

The muscle and fascia of the abdominal wall are tightened to give you a tighter and flatter stomach. Abdominoplasty usually takes about two hours. You may experience some pain and tightness around the healing wound. You will have to stay in our Clinic for 2-3 days after your abdominoplasty. Stitches in your skin are usually removed in ten to twelve days. Most stitches are self-resorbing. The scar is intense and red but it will fade to a nearly invisible white scar within a year.

During the consultation, you will get more information what are possible complications and factors determining the surgery price, what shape of your abdomen you can expect. The doctor will also show before-and-after photographs of the treated patients.
